Default 85 CGT warm starting & stalling Issue - Fuel

Newbie here to these forums. My CGT with the I5 engine began randomly stalling when warm and only start when it cooled down. It will run on a few shots of starter fluid. It has a new fuel filter, and has lots of fuel flow in and out of the distribution block. I removed the both the cold start & main fuel injectors, and when I turn the engine over I get periodic cold start fuel spray, but zero fuel out of all 5 main injectors. When I manually move the vacuum plunger it makes no difference. I have a Bentley manual, but I am not set-up to test fuel pressure etc. Am I checking the fuel injectors correctly? any ideas on what to test next would be very helpful.

When it's not starting, is the fuel pump running while you crank?

Yes, I verified the fuel pump is running, and it pumps about 1/2 a litre in 15 seconds to the fuel distribution block. From there I am getting nothing to the injectors.

Hmm, I wonder if you have a faulty temp sensor that thinks it needs to tell the fuel distributor to pull the pressure all the way back, or a faulty pressure regulator. I'll have to remind myself what goes where on those.

Thanks Rog, I think your on to something. I followed the diagnostic check (resistance check) from the Bentley manual, and I get 0 ohms at 20C. It says I should be getting 2.5 K at 20C. Looks like for under $20.00 I can get one ordered. Will let you know how it turns out. Bruce

The new temperature sensor seems to have fixed the problem. Between that and good cleaning of the fuel injectors by soaking them upside down in fuel injector cleaner and carburetor cleaner. The odd thing is that I still could not get fuel injectors to spray outside of the engine. There must be something in the controls that does not allow the injectors to squirt until the engine fires (but this doesn't seem to make sense). Any explanation here would help.

The only way to get the injectors to spray without the engine running is by manually jumping the fuel pump so it runs continuously and also moving the airbox plate up (the manual says to use a magnet). They should have sprayed when you were cranking the engine over, but at any rate at least it's fixed.
