Default to all those that helped me with my starting/idling issue at carlisle. THANKS

Just about everyone that looked at my car told me it was probably a vacuum problem so i humored them and picked up a few feet of braided vacuum hose while i was there. Well i have most of the hoses all changed out and now i need more hose... It still runs WAY too lean at idle but starts a lot better now. Also, for the first time ever with this car, i hit 1.4 bar on my stock gauge!, when i took it out for a test drive i floored it off the line and i felt the turbo spool up and kick in, and right where the added force usually levels off it kept going. My first reaction was HOLY SH*T somethin is wrong, and i looked down at my gauge and it said 1.4 and i got chills... it made me really ecstatic to see that. So yea, i'm gonna finish changing all of the vacuum lines and then adjust my CO and hopefully she'll be good after that

Default Yeah the hoses Corey showed me off your car.....

were all rotted and generic looking heater hoses that won't stand up too well over time to heat/oil mist etc. Glad things are getting better with your ride.

Default yea, my upper wastegate hose was so rotted it came off in my hand without even loosening the one

clamp... Now that i'm seeing all of these problems, i'm thinking that perhaps these were always there and someone in the past didn't want to take the time to fix it so they just fiddled with the idle and CO adjustment to cover it up. Which is why i'm running so lean now. Just a thought....

Default Defintely, but now it's your car, so get cracking cracker! lol!

Adjusting the idle to correct a vac leak is one of the oldest(dumbest) tricks in the books mechanics get away with in attempting to get older CIS cars running, but again it's only a bad band aid for the problem.

Default 2nd that one..

I have seen people overlook the vacuum hoses and dig themself's in to a real deep hole by jumping the gun and adjusting the A:F ratio and idle adjustment to try to balance it out. Fix it right the first time and you dont run in to this stuff later on down the road.

It's always fun tracking down how some redneck duct-taped the car back together before you bought it eh? Hmm.. I see a Q of the day coming on...

Default Definitely replace all the rotten lines before messing with the CO!

There is no sense in doing it otherwise. If you still need help adjusting the CO after you have replaced all the rotten lines try looking in the 5k forum for some of my old posts regarding setting the zero and basic setting for the CO. I got that right from a Bosch book and the Bentley.
