A dillema regarding my leakey aux. radiator. Opinions sought.
Here's the deal... My aux. radiator is leakey... It's not an end cap leak, it's actually leaking dead center. Not sure If it's a stone hit or corrosion.
New ones cost $300+
I have a line on a used one for $50
My mechanic says he has a guy that can repair it for $40.
So... What my fear is, is that i'll drop $40 on getting this one fixed just to have it be corroded out... But if I buy the used one, who knows what it looks like inside... What to do?

This probably doesn't help...but can't you eliminate the aux. radiator altogether?
I vaguely remember hearing about that somewhere. But if you were to have it repaired, make sure the guy who's doing it knows what he's doing. A used one might not be that bad of a bet, I think I'd go that route.

If the shop that does the repair...
is a great shop, w/ experience, then you should have no problems. I go to to a radiatior shop that has been in business for like a thousand years, and has a GREAT reputation. I do not go to a young shop; they won't know your radiator, and are just getting their "bones" made. Definetly worth the $40.00 you spend.
