Default First day on the road

with the 4kq and the main shifter "ball and socket" linkage let go. I was bringing it up to my buddy's shop for inspection and exhaust work when it happened. **** me off.
The car ran fine, tracked straight (needs an alignment tho). These cars are certainly less pesponsive than their CGT brethran! It's a pig!
So, what do I have to replace? Is there a kit, like with vw's, you know, bushings and chicken bones? I have some lock wire holding it together now. My buddy couldn't help but laugh and call me a turd polisher. Imagine that. Another day in the life......

Default happened to me...

I could get like 2 gears...drove home in third and managed to save the "stabalizer" bar.

mine had the ball pop off and then take out the bolt or soemthing...one trip to crappy tire and it was fixed.

determine which parts you need and then post back, I'm heading out to teh junk yard tomorrow to visit my Coupe GT and 4000s both of which are 5spd....I could grab the part you need....

Default Excellent

The parts I need are the bigger ball socket and the chicken bone with sockets on both ends, with the adjustment in the middle. Crap, I don't have etka at work, so I can't get more technical than that. I'll have to look at my old donor, to see what she has to offer. Let me know if you have success.

Default When mine destroyed itself, I came back w/ a short throw kit.

I'm very pleased with this. Got it from a junker in another local audi mechanic's parts car yard, for $25.00.

Your reference to crappy tire begs the question, where in the great white north are you located, our U.S. bretheren are missing the cultural icon that is "The Corporation" aka "Canadian Tire".

From New Brunswick Canada...
Crappy tire = Canadian Tire Corporation, much like teh US's Pep boys i would say...large multi-purpose department store with the "handy" man in mind...
