friends 4000 won't start HELP!!

Ok my buddy just bought this car and it ran great thursday but he went to get it today and it will not start. It will crank, got fuel, and has spark but nothing. I need ideas.

More info please. 5cyl? 4cyl? Year of car?

How have you verified fuel? How have you verified spark?

doh sorry its a 5cyl quattro and its a 86. I totally didn't mean to leave that important information out

Make sure u have spark at the plug not the coil Ive seen dist. rotors blow apart w/o warning.How cold is it outside (cold start problems)
