I have dash lights...
Tore apart a good portion of my console and intrument panel yesterday and replaced all the bulbs.
The tricky part were the instrument panel. I'm sure in the 80's this seeemed like a good design. But now in 07 I'd have to say otherwise. The first obstacle was twisting out the bulbs without tearing the ribbon cable. after that was to clean the corrosion off the contacts (the bulbs were still good).
Put it all together carefully and waited till dark. Bling.... all lights worked except the speedo light.
When I get a wild hair again I'll get to that one.

Re: I have dash lights...Funny how its always the speedo light....
Mine doesn't light up either. I still haven't checked to see if its corrosion, since the bulb worked sometimes when I first got the car.

my speedo light does the same thing sometimes...
but i just pull off the side vent thingy and move the holder around and it eventually comes back on for a several weeks.
But since I threw some dielectric grease on there it hasnt given me problems

Yup, that circuit board is flimsy
Thats the main thing I look at when Im gonna snag a cluster. Usually they are OK if people havnt messed with them alot, but sometimes they are really buggered up. The one on my old 4000 was torn and the bulbs had no way to work.
I have 3-5 clusters in various states of decay, a few with excellent bulb areas.
Easy to do, I think, but again Ive done it alot.

moving it around fixed it....
dirty contacts I guess. Would still like to know what kind of bulb it is, the "S" on the base is a hint that someone else made them.
