I love that pic. I even have the Paris Dakar tapes. 959 is the car that got me into 4wd...
911 is my first passion but when 959 came into picture it led me to the quattro as an affordable sub.

Ah yes.. The Grouppe B Porsche...
When Group B was cancelled they needed to use their investment elsewhere and so it was the Paris Dakkar that they entered.
IIRC they called that version the 969. If I am not mistaken they all broke suspension parts the first year and didn't do well or retired completely. The second year I think they placed 1st, 2nd, and then 4th or 5th with all 3 cars. Teir support truck also placed very high over all as they had to keep up with the monster 969s!
