looking for tail light assemblies
Good day again gang. After moving the CGT out of the laneway for a quick look at the garage, I noticed that my tail lights werent working. They used to, I also know that one of the rear bulbs wasnt the greatest in terms of seating. I was hoping that some one had an extra set of tail light assemblies they would be willing to give up to a funds challenged Audi Friend?
Let me know, thanks.

Just 'wiggle' everything..
Pop out the lamp assemblies, and pull off the harness wiring connectors, and put them back on a few times.
With the light assemblies out, power up your tail lights, and 'wiggle' the bulbs when the power is on. Maybe take them right out even. I'll bet that is close to all you'll need to do to get them going agin, unless they are toatlly rusted.
And as a surprising FYI: On my urq, If you don't have the left tailight connector on, and on well, some of the right tail lights wont work.
That's because Audi was cheap, and used the connector as a splice point, with the front of a terminal going to the front of the car, and the rear of the terminal going to the right side of the car. If the left lamp housing connector isn't in place, the circuit between the two pins of the connector isn't completed..
If you are troubleshooting, that can have you scratching your head for a while!

I did the Wiggles and ......
All came back to life, but not sure I like having to do that. Anyway the lights are working, I now need to work on the brakes so that I can drive it farther than off the laneway!

After the wiggle...
After you get tired of 'the wiggle', you can try sanding the contacts to get them shiny. That sort of helps. I've also adden a hard wired ground from the terminal on the side of the lamp holder to a body ground. ( I think Huw's page talkes of that too)
Someone also metioned long ago that cleaning with "CLR" had good results for them..<ul><li><a href="http://housewares.hardwarestore.com/35-176-rust-removers/clr-calcium-lime-and-rust-remover-225227.aspx">CLR?</a></li></ul>

Does the CGT have the same common problem with broken wires?
Ive had to do it on every 4k ive had.. the harness coming from the left hand side on the trunk arm gets worn and the wires break.. Not sure about the CGT though.

I havent seen any borken wires.
However it is a loose connection with the bulb in the bulb holder. The tail light on the left hand side doesnt turn in securely. I have the same problem with the drivers side headlight in the sealed beam. I am going to play with the headlight a little bit, it might just be me on that one.
Thanks folks. I think i will try the clr.
