mechanical diff locks?

Default mechanical diff locks?

has anyone done this conversion
seems it would be a lot more reliable and would work more instantaniously

Default makes sense but.....

i dont want to have to get out of my car and lock the caps like on a old truck when i'm in the ditch and can just turn a ****

i was thinking more along the lines of something similar to a bicycle cabel or with a direct mechanical link to the little lever that locks the diff...similar to something like heater cable

if you can
1. prove it works
2. figure out a stylish way to implement it
3. have it cost me +- nothing

good idea though i might try it when mine conk out
