Default More Brake Woes

Ok So I send my stooge (aka brother) out to the wrecker to get the passenger front brake caliper I need for my car. Low and behold all the passenger front calipers have been scooped up!!! No biggie, so he finds the dual piston calipers on a 5000 Turbo, and thinks this might be a viable solution. The question is, what would it take to get the 5000 Turbo caliper (ooohhh dual piston) to work on our CGT's?

Or, I remember that someone had a set of calipers that they needed to clear out. I am in need, and will take both if I can. What would you want in return for them and I would pay for shipping.

Cheers;

Default 1, need the same thing for both sides!

Mike Call me, I may still have the calipers from the 87.5 parts car I dismantled. Assuming I find them, I have no idea of their condition.

Default Why not rebuild it? It's really simple and the parts are cheap.

Personally, I wouldn't put a new to you used caliper on the car without rebuilding it first anyhow. The only possible problem would be that the piston is REALLY scored.

Default Yeah but

When I drilled out the bleeder valve I ruined the concave portion where it seats. Because of that I cannot hold pressure in that caliper (and I loose a lot of brake fluid)

Default Good reason!

Still recommend rebuilding the new used one you get. Getting all the rust and crud out will do wonders to have them be reliable and long lasting, and prevent future problems like you have now.

Default Why not buy new?

From:

http://www.bestpricecarparts.com/

(canadian online Worldpac dealer)

As far as I can figure out, a new left fron one is ~69.00

For that price, compared to a wrecking yard core and rebuilding, I know what I'd do.. :-)

Default I'd bet that for that price it's a rebuild.

Still, almost beats doing it yourself.
