Ok to drill bolt out of strut housing? no luck with heat, fork, pressure..etc.

Default Ok to drill bolt out of strut housing? no luck with heat, fork, pressure..etc.

I ask because it is that tapered little @#$% so I wasnt sure if i needed to worry about damaged some special thing inside it

I'm tellin you man, a gear puller is your best bet for that.

Default You can try it with the fork....

and while applying pressure, get a BFH and hit hard on the strut housing around where the stud goes in. Should pop right out. Douse it with WD-40 or something equivelant first.

Default Gear puller, or "Proper Tool"..

I've used a tool like this before. It makes tierod removal (almost!) a painless procedure..

But even a gear puller (perhaps combined with a slight bit of pounding) is better than nothing!
