Default Possibly figured out my cd player dilema

Went looking at cd players/speakers the other day with my friend. Im not too into the gizmos and gadgets, but I found a cool Jensen that is silver and has orange numbering that would match the gauges and such in the 4kq! But the kicker is that it doesnt have a detachable face, should I still get it? I know what speakers I want, Infinity's all around. My moms Sebring has them, and Ive always been happy with them. What do you guys think, detachable face, or not? Also, is it wise to have the place install the stuff, or try and have my friends help me? I dont know jack about stereo wiring and all that junk.

trust me, if you're uying a jensen radio, infinlty speakers would be overkill.

Default Jensen.... please god no!

Call me an audio snob (I am) but please don't buy a Jensen. I'll send you $25 bucks so you can buy something better. Jensen is about the lowest quality you can get. Very high distortion. Not only will it sound bad (especially at higher volumes) it will be VERY bad for your speakers. I could elaborate and go into a rant about square waves, but I'll save it. Of course if it's just the looks that matter, then go for it, but since you're buying nice infinity speakers sound must matter some.

Default What's your budget for a receiver?

If you don't mind me asking.
It might be worth your while to consider buying used/refurbished to get better quality. I just bought a refurb Sony MiniDisc head for $110. There's lots of good deals out there if you know where to look. If you want I'll give you some suggestions in your budget.

Default Not a problem...

Just the head unit, Id like to spend no more than 200. A Blaupunkt deck would definately be cool. Thanks alot for helping me out!

Default For $200 you can do A LOT better than Jensen

In the Blaupunkt ball park the 'Santa Fe' is very basic and has an amber display. Crutchfield.com has it for $170 If you shop around you could do better than that. These people list it for brand new for $135 http://www.sound4less.com/product.asp?0=240&1=269&3=1151
They also have the 'Honolulu' which is a little different for $120 refurbished
