Default Power brake bleeder

has anyone used one of those power brake bleeders?

http://www.motiveproducts.com/ordernow_bleeders.htm

I was thinking of picking one up, seems like a good thing if it works like they say. If anyone has one what is the best price you found?

Default My BF has one...but I was given the "I bleed brakes like the pros" t-shirt it came with.

(I was surprised when I saw your link to Motive Products, as I've never heard of them before being given my snazzy shirt.)

I've never used the power bleeder though and don't know which one he has. Sorry I couldn't be more of a help...but that T shirt they sent with it cracks me up!

Default I use the one on IPD's web site...$22!!!

It uses tire pressure (easy when you have spare wheels). Worked great when I replaced my brake hoses. You hook it up to the master cylinder reservoir cap and open the bleeders (use some clear tubing to watch the bubbles). If you get a bubble in the master cylinder, you can turn on the air and pump the brake pedal to push out the bubbles and do it as a one person job.

http://www.ipdusa.com/ProductsCat.aspx?CategoryID=436&NodeID=94& RootID=629</a

Default It's sweet.

I use mine all of the time. Couldn't ask for an easier way to bleed the brakes. If you put brake fluid in the main part of the bleeder, it will keep your brake fluid reservoir filled the whole time you're bleeding.
I got mine about two years ago from GPR parts. I think it was around $40-45.

Good Luck!

Default I use a Mighty Vac....

that way you're right there to turn the bleeder valve. Only PIA is having to check the resevoir.

Default Re: Power brake bleeder - make your own

I used the instructions from either the TEch forum on Audiworld or HUW's website...to make my own power bleeder. Briefly, get a pump sprayer for fertilizer/insecticide/etc ( mine was 1 gallon version from Sears) , get a spare Master Cylinder cap, put a 1/4 " fitting in the cap, connect the hose from the sprayer to the cap( with appropriate clamps). Put a qt of brake fluid in the pump, connect it to the MC reservoir. Pump it up to 10 -15 lbs( experiment here ) . Open bleeder valve and watch the old grungy fluid ooze out ,,,,works like a charm.

Just passing on what I learned here last year...

Default HMMM Make ur own you say

I have an extra sprayer that i don't use and I could grab a spare cap at the junkyard tommorow. I might just try making my own, I think I even have a 25psi gauge at work that I pulled out of a robotic control. Tommorow could be fun at work!!!!!
