Default Sort of

Yes, it will bolt in on a FWD Audi 4000 (4 cylinder), buit you need to swap in the wiring harness too, which does nto seem to come with this engine....

Default jeez, for $4,000 you could get some nice engines

1.8T + tranny
20vT - tranny

i wouldn't shell that out for a 1.9diesel... but i'm not restoring a diesel am i... :P

The other real issue is that unless your swapping into another smoker the gear ratios will not be great for the TDI. They make max torque at or below 2000 rpm and and max hp around 3500-4000. This is lower, a lot lower, than your average gasser.

That said, I am a huge fan of those engines. They pull like a semi and get 50mpg in a golf/jetta.

Default Engine, tranny, wiring, - a lot of work : Instead why not pick up a diesel Audi?

There have been a number on Ebay and on the other sales boards. A lot less work and a very collectable car -okay and terrific fuel economy too.

It would be cheaper from a budget perspective as well as frustration in performing an engine transplant.

The 1.9 engine is a sweet upgrade from the 1.6. more HP and torgue in the same size package.
