Default Who has done front speakers?

I have a set of Rockford 2x5 & a set of Pioneer 5in speakers. I would like the 5s in, but not sure if they will fit. What have u guys done? & How do I remove the mesh cover? I tried to pry it up with a screw driver and it's not budging. Any pointers on how to get this thing off?

Default They unscrew from the bottom...........

the speaker is one whole assembly. A few people on here have done it by cutting the original speaker and fitting in the new speaker. I haven't done it yet. But I have taken them apart and its kind of a PITA. You have to unbolt it from underneath and yes the air vents are in the way a need to be move as well to get to the speaker.

Default Thanks for that info Paul. I figured that's how they were & I need to replace mine as well.

The rears are no better. They have a screw-on collar underneath that must be spun off and then you can take the speaker out the top. I only figured this out because I have a set out of a Jetta that I could look at. Real nice design!!

Default For the back...........

I took out the stock ones and I put in some that would fit in the whole and screwed them into the package tray. With the covers you can't even tell. I think I used 5" speakers in the back. Still haven't tackled the front. If you look at Rockets pic poster you will see what he did with his front speakers.

Default I took the whole speaker assembly out and

built this because the speakers i bought wouldn't fit under the stock grills. They're 3.5 inch Infinitis.

<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/69524/audi_front_speakers.jpg">

not too dificult to do, but it kind of destroys the stock look of the dash.

5" is too big for the front. 3.5" is right, 4" is a TIGHT squeeze...

Default 3.5" should have fit since 4" has been done (link to Rocket's front speaker thread)

Default i have some detailed pics of how...

...i used the stock speaker bucket and installed new 3.5 JBL's into them. Im very happy with them, although more bass from the front would be nice, but oh well, theres enough coming from the back anyway.

let me know if you would want to look at them.
