hanics. My 20V 200 Wagon will start kicking (sudden loss of power)at long steady fast hills usually in 5th or 4h gear (worst in 5th). The problem rarely happens in the city and my mechanic and friends have seen this issue on many cars with no fix? Is this common and if it possible a demon with no solution?

I've never ran into that issue. I've had 3 of these cars now (all 20vtq's) and they all
have hauled **** up grades and such with no issues that you describe. I know that doesn't help you out a bit, but I wouldn't call it typical for these cars to do that.
Has your fuel pump ever been changed? "Jurq" a friend of mine just changed out his in his 20v avant (because he had to, mind you) and his fuel response and over all smooth accelerating has improved.
Just a thought.

Does it happen at higher speeds on level roads?
Do you have the correct rotor in the distributor?
Do you have a metal distributor gear?
Does it happen with the A/C turned off?
The above are COMMON problems for 20vt engines.
Less common would be something like Mystified mentioned, a tired fuel pump, a partially plugged fuel filter, etc., that can be tested with a fuel pressure gauge.

How are your catalytic converters? How many miles on the exhaust system?
Fuel pump or boost leak(s) are decent thoughts too.
fyi-I was simply astonished at the performance I got back after replacing the fuel pump and finding and repairing a small boost leak...
