3b engine in "limp mode"....can anyone help????
If someone could shed some light on this problem, i would be a very happy man! Thanks in advance!
After driving my car for about 30-40 minutes the car suddenly goes into "limp mode" and cuts the fuel and I guess retards the timing significantly. I can turn off the ignition and reset it but usually it goes right back into limp mode. This seems to throw a 2113 Hall sender code also. I just replaced the whole distributor, rotor, and cap, and its still throwing the code. I checked the mechanical timing when i installed the distributor and its good. It seems like most of the time it occurs after i step on the throttle. Some say it could be a thermoswitch giving a false overheat signal but the switch is brand new. The other things i suspect is the potentiometer, knock sensors, air temp sensor, because people have said these could possible affect the timing if they go bad.
My other question is...can "limp mode" throw a 2113 hall sender code even if the hallsender is good??? I know that the limp mode is supposed to retard the timing and I read that if your timing is way off you will get the hall sender code, does this make sense???
I just didn't want to have to randomly replace sensors. Also, I have not replaced the potentiometer, knock sensors, airtemp sensor, or MAF just as a side note. And i have a cone airfilter, Manual boost controller, and am only running 10-11 lbs of boost.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks!!!!

MFTS is like a light bulb. Even new ones can be bad. I'd also check the wiring to that one. Pull back the boot and look at the wires farther in.

Thanks, I'll check that, it is the new 3 wire one too which I heard is more apt to fail
I have a used thermoswitch from an 89 90 which i believe is the same so i'll try that one and see what happens.
Thanks!!
Thanks!!
