Default brakes followup

ok, so the brakes started soft, and got hard, and felt and smelled like they were sticking...
a previous owner had, rather than replacing the heater core, pulled the hoses and joined them. this was fine, as it circumvented the leaking heater, but those two extra feet or so of heater hose had been joined up over the master cylinder...thus providing a nice extra heat boost to certain of the brake lines. oi! do the math.
so today, i snipped the hoses to and from the heater near the motor, and articulated a piece of copper pipe and joined them that way...nice and close...way away from the brake lines. i took her our for a drive, and whappaya know? the brakes seem better. i will be going out for a longer drive tomorrow, so we'll see what develops.

Default Re: brakes followup

If your master cyl is getting hot and causing the hard pedal with dragging brakes the only fix is a new master cyl.
You will destroy the brakes if you continue to drive with that problem.

Default I had a similiar problem..............

changed the master cylinder solved the problem. I can't imagine that there could be that much heat transferring to the mc from a heater hose.
