Friend is dumping a 1989 200 Avant
This just came in on the audifans list:
Hi all,
I have been off-list for a few months, as I had no Audi in the fleet.
However a good friend of mine has a 200 she wants to get rid of. It's in
need of repair and she could probably sell for some money but she is fed
up with it and wants it gone without having to deal with selling it,
answering questions, etc. She is a good friend of mine and I'd like to
help her. I don't have a need for her car right now but what I can
probably do is get it from her and sell it cheap, then give her the money.
It's a 1989 200 Turbo Quattro Avant. Pearl, alloy wheels (Something like
BBS RX's, quite good looking) roof rack, heated seats (which may or may
not work.)
Know problems (from my conversations with her)
Overheats
smokes
Has brake system problems related to the ABS
hesitates
The car is driveable but she is reluctant to drive it out of town. It's
relatively straight and decent looking. I took some pictures of it once
(she has been talking about getting rid of it for months) but I cannot
find them right now, they might be on my home PC.
The head was recently rebuilt, and a new radiator was installed. At one
point the car was not making boost and I don't know if that issue has been
addressed or not. Maybe the turbo is seized and leaking oil into the
intake.
If I get the car and take it home to sell, I want to get rid of it with
little effort. I would want to price it such that someone will just come
and get it, not spend a lot of time going over it, fixing stuff,
meeting potential buyers, etc. I live out East of Boulder, CO. Maybe
what I'll do is park it near CU so people can see it.
How cheap do you think it would have to be to be an attractive parts car
or project car? Cheap enough such that the value of a few parts makes it
worthwhile for a buyer to come and get it? Any interested listers?
Thanks!
-Joel.

BTW, I have no interest in this car. I just copied this post and the original from audifans.com list.
