Default grrr.... I know this has been covered but someone please set my mind at ease.

Im trying to find some GL4 75/90 syn fluid for my tranny.

the only stuff i can find in this little town of mine is this.

bottle reads:

"AMSOIL 75-90 Synthetic GL-2 thru GL5"

or

"AMSOIL Series 2000 75/90 synthetic for GL4, GL5 or MT1"

Can I put this stuff in there even though it says gl5? I mean it says its good for gl2 up to gl5 so im thinking yes?

they also carry a royal purple something or other but it was like an 85/? weight.

thanks in advance.

Default yeah, like Andrew said, you'd better order redline and wait couple more days...

I heard it from lots of peaople that GL-5 synthetics are very bad for our trannys. It will eat the synchros. I had to put GL-5 once in the tranny and use it for about 3 or 4 months before I had time to flush it and put the right stuff in it and it didn't seem bad though: it shifted smoothly, worked ok, and when I drained it I didn't see any evidence of something bad. May be I'm just lucky that I didn't ruined my transmission in 4 months using GL-5, but I'm not gonna do it ever again. You know these cars - they're not gonna tolerate anything but the right stuff.

Default www.redlineoil.com

Or
Red Line Synthetic Oil Corporation
6100 Egret Court
Benicia, CA 94510

(707) 745-6100

I got my 3 quarts of "Red Line MT-90" here locally for $9.99 each. Their web page is down so I don't know what they're asking for directly.

Default 2.3 quarts (for you)

Earlier ones take more. I don't know when the switch happened.
I think at 2.5 quarts it starts to leak out the fill hole - which is fine.

Default Shockproof is a 90w gear oil with several additives that "cushions" metal to metal contact.

3 grades available...Ultra-light, Light, and Heavy.
