How hard would it be to...
lubricate my heater blower so it doesn't sound like an angry cricket? It's getting loud enough that it might actually be worth the effort.

That sounds easy....
but where's the rubber elbow you speak of? I suppose I could bring my Bentley in tommorow and look. It's fargin' cold out.
Can I get to the elbow without removing a lot of stuff?

You have to remove the windshield wiper arms and the seal along the firewall, and then pry off the clips holding the rain diverter in place.
The rubber elbow is toward the front of the heater core box on the driver side.
WD40 will give very temporary relief from the squeak. A penetrating spray with something like teflon in it will provide a slightly longer period of quiet. Be sure to test the odor of such a spray, however, because you'll be smelling inside the cabin for quite a while.

Sometimes it isn't the blower...
but it is a little fan. The temp sensors in the dash have a little fan to constantly draw air past the sensor. They tend to run constantly and so they do wear out. A real PITA to get at.

Oh I think that might be it. It doesn't change really when I change blower speed. Hmmm never knew about that one. I'd really like to get it out and see if it could be disassembled and cleaned/oiled or maybe just replace if it's that difficult to get to.

Check today and it seems more relative to fan speed...
When I turn it on high it starts chirping and chirps again when I turn it back down. The chirp never changes though.
Things are good here. Car is running great. Trying to get rid of some minor annoyances and hopefully attack the suspension this spring/summer. I'm glad you kept the Avant. You taking that to Carlisle again? I'm hoping to go. Just found out that is the weekend of my wife's cousin's wedding though so I might have to do some finagalling.
Please tell me you're putting a 1.8t in that rocco!! That looks like a nice one from what I saw on that place's web site.
