Default Mystery hose...can anyone identify?

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/38606/img_1977.jpg"></center><p>Spending an Audi weekend. I thought I'd replace a leaky valve cover gasket among a handful of other tasks.
When I got the valve cover off, I noticed this rubber hose from the intake manifold to the cylinder head. You can just see it behind the injector plumbing in the picture. Anyone have an idea what it's for?

BTW, I decided the valve cover needed to be prettied up a bit. Besides, red paint adds at least 5 HP. ;-)

It gives vacuum between the upper and lower injector o-rings to help seal and evac. any vapor that accumulates.

Default Opinions are like *******s...

everyone has one. No ones business as long as you like it.
Besides, it's a vast improvement over the peeling and rusty mess it was before a resurfacing and paint. Mine is a dark red, IMO it looks good. I'd like to highlight the rings silver, just like Adam did.
