Default Not all oil coolers are created equal.

i'm looking to change my oil cooler due to the fact that (1) its seen better days and (2) my oil temps are a bit higher then i'd like them to be with these sweltering summers in atlanta. so my question for the forum, what i am to look at when searching for an aftermarket oil cooler? of course surface area is common sense but i don't find much information about how much it flows or at what pressure. anyone have recommendations for oil coolers?!

Default i have a Mocal core that I'm sure will be more than sufficient for keeping your oil cool

it is about 11" long and i believe has 13 rows and is 1.5" thick. I will take pics when I get home.

Default i have a couple from volvo turbo cars. their about twice the size of the stock audi one.

i'd want something like $25 plus shipping for each. i'll get pics up tommorrow.

Default Check my pic poster... I put that Mocal in...

Did a write up on the parts required as well. It allows the 20W50 to get into a good range and keeps it there quite constantly. We had a round of 100F weather last week and all was well. I have it tie-wrapped to the lower front grill and removed all the crappy old duct work. Black tie-wraps will make the install nearly invisible.

Default will the volvo coolers work with the audi lines?

in other words is it a direct bolt on?

i'm not sure about the bolt on, i haven't had a chance to check yet. I will try this week.

20vTurboPower, care to offer an proof as to why a bigger oil cooler wouldn't be better than what comes stock? same manufacture as the audi, so how could if be worse? if it is a bolt in, it's a $25 upgrade. you can go buy a setrab for $500 if you want.

Default whoa buddy!

i just said that i "heard". and just because its big, doesn't mean its better either. this is where things like bad design come into play which create pressure issues and so many other things that could make a "bigger" oil cooler a downgrade. i know you're selling some but don't get yourself all worked up bro. and fyi i just saw a 7"x12"x2" Earls Oil Cooler go for $33 on ebay so its not even a matter of paying $500 bucks. thats the same one that Hap Macquire from the Original S car forum runs and he has 420hp at the wheels.
