trunk lock has two modes...
1. it's locked all the time and needs the key to unlock.
2. it's unlocked if the rest of the car's locks are unlocked. You can pop the trunk by pushing the lock without the key.

You will need the trunk key (ignition key unless the trunk lock was changed) to either set it all the time lock or as Will's stated unlock when the doors are unlocked.

turn key all the way horizontal to the left and the trunk is controlled by the central locking mechanism / all the way horizontal to the right and it is locked all the time
