PS pump question

PS pump question
other than loss of steering and brake assist, are there any bad effects from removing the PS pump belt until I can replace the seals on the pump due to a major leak? and, is there any way to loosen up the steering without power assist?
thanks in advance!

Re: PS pump question
As qpower notes, you lose both power steering AND power braking. Car can operate in that condition, but it won't be comfortable or safe. You can reduce the cost of hydraulic oil loss by using cheaper substitutes, but you're also polluting the engine compartment and the environment. Take a day and rebuild the pump.

Remanufacture pump can be purchased on ebay for about $110.00 +
shipping. So the question to ask is your life worth a 100 bucks? Hopefully the answer is yes and that you will replace the pump.<ul><li><a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AUDI-5000-200-100-POWER-STEERING-PUMP-REMANUFACTURED_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33588QQi hZ014QQitemZ330117313935QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW">E bayyyyyy</a></li></ul>
