Trip computer/central locking went hay-wire after storage..

I have an '87 5K CSQ and it was stored for a 1.5 years. Once I hooked up the battery to get it on the road again, I noticed that the dash information center, (MPG, Bar,..) is completely lit up, and doesn't respond to the computer button on the console. Also, the driver's door wont completely unlock with the key. The **** will raise most of the way, but the door will partially unlock and partially unlatch. I have to go around to the passenger side and pull the **** completely up, which will unlock the door. Is there any way to completely disable the central locking? Just unhooking the vacuum line from the pump doesn't make any difference in this case..
Oh, and I just sold this car for $200 to my landlord's mother-in-law. I'm too nice sometimes..

If it worked before...
it is probably oxidattion on the contacts. Exercise all the buttons and switches. Same with the locking system If it all worked before just give it a little time to stretch out again.

I have an '87 with central locking problems.........
sometimes works, sometimes not. I couldn't figure out the the problem to repair, so I simply pulled the fuse. I think it was fuse location # 19, but maybe I am wrong. Inside the fuse box cover is a diagram of fuse function per each circuit. Pulling the fuse will kill the system.
However, my thinking is that you could be having trouble with just the door handle, not the locking system. I have had a spring go bad in the door handle, or a piece of its internal pot metal lever to bend, so the door handle wouldn't function properly. My bet is that the door handle is causing the trouble.

I advertised it for $500 with no takers. Where were you?
I "upgraded" to a '96 A6 Avant, but honestly, This car was waaay more fun to drive, and I miss it already, eventhough its only been a day. Thankfully she comes by the house all the time, so I'll get to see it often. I'll murderize her if she lets anything bad happen to it though...

Try pulling out the trip computer button housing and clock...
Just gently pry out with a tape-covered flat-head screwdriver. Unplug it and check for corrosion on the connectors. If you clean these up, you might see some improvement. Do the instrument cluster, HVAC head, diff locks light up okay?
