V8 Engine Transplant

V8 Engine Transplant
I have a 1990 V8 quattro and have recently had a timing belt go unexpectedly (about10k miles before necessary replacement) and as a result need to replace the engine. I was hoping to save some money, being that my friends and I are handy areound cars, by replacing the engine ourselves. We have never done an engine this large and were wondering if anyone could please help and give us some pointers. Also, would it be an easy swap to upgrade to the 4.2? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Re: V8 Engine Transplant
Take the heads off and see how many valves need to be replaced and also check the heads.
It would be easier and a lot less work to fix the existing engine unless there are other issues with the car. Or find another car. See link below. BTW I don't know the seller.

Check this used V8
