Default 1989 Audi 80....buying q's

I was told by a girl I work with that there was an Audi for sale near her apt, so I went to check it out. Its a an 89' 90 fwd 5spd. Looked nice from the outside, except for some lower moulding that needs reglued, and a smashed pass front parking lamp.
A guy at work was looking for a cheap car, so I told him to check it out, and thats exactly what we did today. Car is actually pretty nice, all the features work. AC blows ice cold, sunroof works and doesnt bind or go slow, all windows work properly. Mirrors work, but the drivers side doesnt go side to side, any ideas?
Car drove decent, but a few times when my friend would put the clutch in, it would die. This happened when we brought the car back and parked it. He then turned it on again, it idled for about 20 seconds, then died. Im not familiar with the 80 4cyl, but what could it be? The car was running for about 5 mins before we drove it, and it idled fine, started up fine as well.
He only wants 1000 bucks for it, which in my mind, is a good deal for my friend.
Any help is appreciated!

Mike

Default If you can hear the motor working but the mirror doesn't move it's a broken gear.

A new motor or used motor from broken mirror or a whole mirror from the wrecker's or a new mirror will fix it.

That it is a five speed and a 2.0 is interesting. I wish I had a manual. The 8v 2.0 is notorious for idle problems, which I alleviate by revving the **** out of mine until it idles right. Works well, and I've been doing it for two years now. Idle problems could be as slimple as the ISV needs cleaning or a number of other things. How many miles? Oh, and I might have a headlight for it. LATERS!

No no! I still have that mirror reserved until I find out if the ebay one is a POS or not.
