Default Anyone have a spare complete strut assembly (front, passenger side)? Ontario preferred!

So as a followup to my previous pothole thread, the pothole ended up snapping my shock.. My mechanic told me it's easier and less risky to try and just find the complete strut assembly with spring and all that, in case the insert is seized on.

I'd be willing to pick it up if you're local (Toronto area, can travel somewhat), or pay for fast-ish shipping.

Default seized on??

that's what a torch is for!

Highly unlikely that he won't be able to get it apart... it's a matter of heating the insert cap, smacking it a few times, then using a big pipe/monkey wrench to pop it loose.

Since the insert is crap, you're not worried about overheating the seals.

Looks like I might mention this stuff to him, but he was convinced the age would mean pure seized on

Default ya... if you've got the space, it's a DIY job

and your mechanic is being a *****... I've NEVER had a strut cap strip on these cars...

1 '87 4kq front/rear
1 '87 VW Fox's front
1 '88 VW Fox's front
3 '88 90q front/rear

I know I've got spares for the 90q... but I'm in Sudbury and the spares are in Peterborough... and I won't be down till April.

If you are in the Toronto area, the guys at Only Audi, 20 minutes north of the city are great. www.oooonlyaudi.com, Zoltan or Danny
A growing family business, 4 hoists, lots of used parts as well as new of course.

I'm in Burlington Ontario and I have both front strut assemblies for a 1990 Cq not sure if they are the same though. I also have tonnes of parts for Cq's looking to get rid of if anyone is interested in. Need room for the project coupe!
