Bring ya'll up to speed on what I've been getting up to... mostly concerns interior
so some may or may-not know that I've been actively pursuing updating my door cards to the '94 & '95 style. I am able to keep black leather, and as well there was a big mental "battle" over keeping the Burled Walnut trim, or else covering it with a very sharp looking carbonfiber vinyl material. In the end the wood won out, mostly because I didn't feel like removing the center trim pieces in order to cover them with vinyl...perhaps at a later date. What I'd really like is another complete set of interior trims (plastic preferably) which I could cover at my own pace and then simply swap into the car. I dunno, everything is sorta one week at a time just now.
Anyways, to start the photo summary:
Here are the front panels..rears are same
<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/53503/door_cards.jpg">
to my very dismay the driver's side all the clips had been sheared off, GRRRRRR... not quite sure how but it really fuxors up the panel
<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/53503/broken_tabs.jpg">
so I made these prosthetic replacement clips that I would screw & epoxy to the existing plastic stems.
<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/53503/clip.jpg">
and now the panel remade with "new" clips
<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/53503/remade_panel.jpg">
wellllllllllllll, as some of you may have guessed my new clips failed miserably =( the epoxy didn't hold up to the pop-force of the door card and so all the clips cracked off and simply bent. **** me right off... I don't think the presence of the front speaker in the card really affects install, because the passenger side slid down and held tight with ease. Whereas the driver's side seems to flex right around the middle, and I have trouble popping in the forward edge. I haveta investigate a bit better, seems like it's being hung up on the thick window wiring loom, or else some of the padding material is too thick. I have no idea, other than that it's back to the drawing board for the clips (today's project).
anyhow, I did have more sucess with the other 3 doors... the panels are really dirty cause I haven't had the chance to wipe them down yet, so here's just a sample.

when it's 100% complete I'll have everything clean and take some natural daylight pics.
And then there's my trunk. A while ago I made an amp box for in the spare tire well. Up until now I had always thought I would have a subwoofer again, so in this box I put two (4)ch Alpine amps. One powers the speakers in the factory locations, and the other has 2channels for the front door 6.5" woofers, and then I would bridge the other 2channels for the sub. But in recent weeks I've sort of changed my mind (growing old you know). So instead, I picked up one of the "old school" A/D/S/ 6channel amplifyers and use it to power the 3pairs of speakers. Simple, clean, efficient, and I don't sacrifice a bunch of weight to excess audio equipment. This is sorta what I really wanted in the end (long term), so I'm glad to have my stereo system come to completion.

these are the two I had in that tray previously (both are now for sale, hint hint)

this is the box's cover. after it's screwed down I just drop it into the tire well.

SWEET!
Nice Rob! I want to go to that style as well. The ONLY thing that is holding me back is that I will be able to the memory in the stock position on the driver's side. I would have to modify the door card to fit it in somewhere, which I will have to do with the passenger side anyway.
