What could have caused this after only 20k?

You don't belong there and look what you've done to my poor crank sprocket!

You'd think that this engine, being an interference design, would have suffered a crushing blow wouldn't you? Would you believe that I installed a new timing belt, and not only got the timimg dead-on but compression is great on all cylinders? Lucky S.O.B.
