are ford focus's faster than a cq?? or is my car not working right
i got beat in a race to 70mph by a stock 2002 ford focus.. he beat me by a carlength.. i have a 1991 coupe quattro.. i just wonder if my car has a problem??? i think that my cat has gone bad becuse in a lower gear inbetween 1ooo and 2ooo rpm;s i get a good loud rattle under my car.. only problem is i dunno how to check to see if it is bad.. any help is nice

the cq is not exactly swift...
besides, your car is 11 years old! the rattle could be just a loose heat shield - easy to check. just look under the car, reach under and grab the heat shields (there are a few of them).

The CQ's are autobahn cars............
They were never created to be stoplight dragsters.
Where they shine is on country roads and highways.
Driving at exceptional speeds for long distances is the CQ's forte. Doing the same thing in a Focus is tantamount to highway torture. You'd be deaf from the drone of the engine trying to maintain some sort of balance and your body would ache from the inadequate seats, I would never go on a long trip in a Focus because the car was never built for it, it's an urban get aroung car, not a highway or country road cruiser.

tap on the cat, and rear muff's to see if you hear any rattles.
I think either you have an exhaust leak or you have a broken up cat (internal).
