Default has anyone here bypassed the troublsome headligh switch on a CQ?

the multi switches on my early build CQs are giving me lots of grief. I can pull back on the larger stalk for hi beams but that is kinda annoying to hold down all the time and it pisses other drivers off. also my fogs wont work because the low beams arent getting power. has anyone just ran a lead from power to the low beam wire via a toggle switch? i assume its doable. if so what wire is the hot feed for the low beams?

i was going to take the switch apart but it doesnt look servicable.

the switch on my roommates early build coupe (#127) seems to be crapping out too. he lost power to all the corner lights except one. not really sure of a solution, other than swapping in a new one.

i'm just not sure if both stalks (turnsignal/lights and wiper/hazard) are one piece of if you can just get half. if it's one piece, it'll be a lot harder to get because the wiper side of it is coupe specific.

Default I rebuilt my switch

I disassembled it, cleaned up all contacts, coated with some dielectric grease tweaked and prodded contacts until it worked again.
It took several attempts to get it working, but it's been working like new ever since.
-It can be done!

I didn't run into any rivets. Unless yours is different, there were 2 halves to the switch, I believe a screw or 2 held them together and they slid apart. if you're looking down the hole in the center, one half slides forward and the other back towards you. Then there were a few more screws IIRC to disassemble the halves.
There is a pinout available somewhere, but I cant remember where. If you can find it that would help a lot. I think I just got it from the Bently, but I can't remember<ul><li><a href="http://www.overnightautoparts.com/storefront/buy.php?make_text=audi&amp;model_text=coupe&amp;ml =&amp;year=1990&amp;part_name=headlight_switch&amp ;brand_name=swf&amp;make_code=AU">half of switch</a></li></ul>
