Default Need mechanical engine answers

Just wondering, The oil pressure sensor assemabialy is in the botton of the oil pan.

These sensors take a reading at the bottom of the oil pan.

Is there anything that takes a reading in the top half of the engine for oil pressure??

If so this could be the culprate for me oil pressur light Tripple Beep'ing and comeing on as it pleases...Grrrr

My guages read good oil pressure at all times, even when the oil pressure light comes on.

And yes... replaced guage sensor and the oil pressure sensor beside it

Not an oil pressure switch at the bottom of the oil pan, maybe a low oil sensor? like a bmw.

I'm wrong, on the left is an oil pressure switch and the right is a sender for a gauge. Is the bolt hollow, like a banjo bolt? Never noticed it on my car a '93 V6q.

Those sensors are the only ones. When does your oil warnings go off at what RPM? you sure you have the correct 2.5 bar oil switch that activates if pressure is below this at or above 2000 rpm (the smaller red one)? sounds if the wiring to this sensor is shorting to ground somewhere along the loom, follow the wires to any connectors and check for corrosion. If your oil warnings do not go off at idle or below 2000rpm then suspect the 2.5 bar switch wiring, otherwise a fault might be occuring at the fuse/relay board for the oil pressure warning system.

Default Well....

1st MOST of the time the oil warning goes off at exactley 2100Rpms (this is why I do not think it is a short, because of the specific timing)

Some times it fixes its self and then all of a sudden a coupple of days later it starts again, this cycle can be in days, weeks, or even single car trips.

2nd I should have the correct the correct 2.5 bar oil switch..as I bought it from the dealer...Any way to tell which one I have. (all parts in pic are new from dealer)

I have NEVER had a warning at uunder 2000 RPm's...can you help me out with troubleshooting the 2.5 bar switch wiring?? I have a bentley manual.

Thanks for the help man.

Default Re: Well....

So it seems there is a definite problem with the 2.5 pressure switch side of the oil warning system. The problem seems that there is an intermitant short occuring which is activating the 2.5 switch. If you ground the connector on the switch while the engine is running you should be able to sound the oil warning system. I don't have a Bentley or wiring diagram for a 90 but on the 80 I know there was a relay/module under the dash for the oil warning system, could be the contacts are sticking inside this module? Does the Bentley have a diagram of the relay board and what each one does? yes you have the correct (red) switch by the way.
