Default radio questions....

I just had a head unit installed and the place was having a ton of problems, they couldnt get the rear speakers to work with the new head and I just wanted to know if there was any easy way to get them to work? I searched but there wasnt really a clear answer, also the head seems to never turn off, with the stock radio i could turn on and off at anytime but with the new one it wont turn off (i.e. with stock radio on I open door and the door beeps, I turn the radio off it goes the beep stops, with the new one i do the same thing, turn it off but the door still beeps, even if i take the face off) I dont know how to fix any of these problems and Im not to good with wires but im willing to try any advice, I just want to know if this means the head unit is always on and if its safe or not.

Default disconnect the rear amps & throw them in the trash...

that'll make the rears work.

sounds like they got the switched & constant power wires backwards. i'd take it back & have them fix it.

Default For one, the rear "active" speakers use a common ground, two, you'll need to use a line-level...

...input to them, not speaker level (you can, but you'll most likely blow the speakers).

You will need to seperate the common ground at the factory wiring connector (the one that plugs into the factory radio).

Default You think the rear speakers sound better WITHOUT the amps?

Eeeesh...my ears aren't great, but those speakers need to be amped to sound like anything!

Default What year car do you have?

Im looking at replacing the radio in my 88 90Q with a old Sony CD deck I have (its just lying around, and I want a CD player in the car). I need to know what issues I may run into as I will be installing it myself.
