Default Removing oil pump [AFC V6]

I really think this thing is shot at 160k so I guess its time to pull it.

The Bentley lists all kinds of things I have to remove like the cross member and starter. I think I can get away with just removing the two belts, damper pulley and toothed pulley? Then go ahead and remove the pump. Do I really need to remove all that other stuff like the Bentley insists?

Default The upper oil pan is bolted to the bottom of the pump.

Techically you need to remove both pans, but it can be done without all that effort. Just be sure that you remove the pan bolts (from the bottom up) before pulling the pump. Use a little sealant where the pump contacts the pan gasket.

No need to remove the starter unless you are replacing the upper oil pan gasket that the pump sits on. I found it easier to remove the lower alternator bolt and swing the alternator out the way to allow the pump to come off and fit squarely onto the block face.
