seized rear calipers, solutions appreciated!!!
after neally stuffing my cabrio cuz the brakes let me down i have noticed the rear calipers are 90% seized, is it right the piston rotates back onto the caliper and that you need the correct tool to push it with. can they be buggers to push back in! whats the best action to take to prevent them seizing again!! copper grease etc.....

If your rear calipers are siezed then it's probably the rubber boots that are torn or badly fitted letting in water to the inner faces of the piston and bore producing rust which will eventually sieze your calipers.
You can wind the piston back in or fully out by using some long-nose pliers, the ends will fit the two adjacent notches and just turn. Audi can supply a repair kit for calipers if the caliper can be reused.
It might be an idea to drain the brake fluid and fully examine the rear calipers by removing them from the hub, brake line and handbrake cable. Got a Haynes manual for the 80,90 & Coupe? -brakes for all 80 based cars are covered.
