Default Slow acceleration...

After have been reading this forum for quite a while (1+ mon), I finally got myself a used '89 Audi-90 (5-cyl, auto-tranny, non-Q).

The car is solid...only 90K miles. However, it response seems a bit slow...I mean slow acceleration. The speed would catch up after you floored the gas pedal for a while...

Any thought...what is causing it? And, how to fix this problem...? Any new parts required?

Thanks a million...!

Default Well your engine doesnt' have a whole lot of power and autos alredy are slower to start with.....

and after driving them, well a 94 cabrolet and 96 A6, the autos love hunting, unless you have a sport mode button with holds gears longer and down shifts faster. But the A6 doesnt and it loves to just hang down in the 2k zone and be sluggish and slow untill a)you come across a hill b) you push harder c) just grab the darn thing and go into D3. Eihter way im not very knowledgable about your specific car and whether something else is wrong. Just my two cents

How many miles? Could just be a "tired" engine! ;O)

Default This may sound crazy but...check your air filter and intake passage...

It could be blocked and the engine is starving for air. No air = no power.

It just has only 90+K miles.

I also brought it to "100K tuned-up" last wk. After that, the engine runs much smoother, but still has slow response.
