SOLVED Intermittent vibration in propeller shaft.
I replaced the entire propeller shaft with a very used factory original CF. The vibration is gone.
ORIGINAL POST
I think I'm my own worst enemy. About a year ago my center propeller shaft had a loose change sound to it, so I replaced the center support bearing. Ever since then I've had a bad vibration that is intermittent coming from the center of the car. If it vibrates it will do so between 26 MPH and 37 MPH. This vibration is very pronounced, to the point that the passenger will ask "What is that". Sometimes the vibration will stop on its own suddenly as the car approaches 40 MPH. Sometimes it does it all day, sometimes not at all. So far I've tried every thing I can think of to fix it. I've tried new CV joints (LOBRO) on both ends of the shaft. I've had all four wheels straitened by a wheel repair shop, replaced all four tires, had the propeller shaft balanced. Removed and greased the right side CV joint inner and incorrectly diagnosed and replaced right side wheel bearing. I've verified the levels in all the gear boxes. The gear boxes have Redline synthetic in them. I've checked the center u-joint for looseness, roughness, and sticking. I'm out of ideas. Please help if you have any ideas or needs more information. 1990 Audi 90 Quattro 20V 143,000 no accidents.

The rubber in the center bearing has deformed. If you did not follow the .....
Bentley Manuals instructional on how to do this job EXACTLY, then you are F**KED. Even a pro shop will screw this job up.
Mine did. They are a well known VW/Audi joint and when I complained of the same thing, they took it apart & found that
the NEW CENTER BEARING WAS SHOT! Less than 5 miles on it. They say it was a defective bearing. I think they did not follow the exact steps to do this job. Either way, it has been corrected
and is as quiet as a new. I suggest strongly to take it to a
shop and have them check it out.

Re: I have a Bentley and followed the We care instructions from Blau...
parts. If there is a step I missed please tell me. I would like to install my unrusted propeller shaft if possible.
