Default Suspension Parts Sources for CQ20V

New to list. Nice to be back in an Audi!

Looking to upgrade the suspension, and would appreciate thoughts on sensible choice of springs and shocks. Wouldn't mind lowering the car an inch or so, nothing extreme. The car is a daily driver and sees winter use.

Second on the list are sway bars. My car has a build date of 7/89 and so has only a smallish front sway bar. Would love to put a beefier front bar, a rear one, and maybe some tower braces. Where to find?

Also: does anyone know of a good source for urethane bushings (control arms and perhaps motor mounts)? I am not interested in Delrin, as I don't drive the car that hard. Well, o.k., maybe a little bit...

TIA - Ivar

MasterB -

Yes, tried a search. There are about 15 pages of posts and most are dated. When you call or try to find the source, they are gone or don't have parts for the CoupeQ20V. Unfortunately, the car is rare enough that parts are hard to find.

- Thanks

Default My CQ is stock but.

2Bennett sells a coilover setup. Their website lists the price as $525 but that is suspiciously cheap on their part. Maybe it's actually $1525 or $525 each (total of 4).

For strut tower bar, I'd get one off a stock 1993-1995 Audi 90. This may or may not require relocating the battery. I would do it anyway just to give the car better weight distribution and less heat cycling on the battery. There is also a Jamex bar but you'd have to find that used.

Check out http://www.20v.org Upgrades section.

http://www.2bennett.com</a

Its cheap because that is for the PARTS only. You have to do some cutting/grinding/welding/painting to install the new spring perches.

Front bar, def. go with a B4 bar, cheap and easy. Does not require moving the batt. however, you have to remove the bar to remove the batt. and cannot use the batt. cover (clearance issue). B4 bar mounts need welded to the car. The bar is secured with 4 bolts to the mounts.

Default actually its "cheap" because it is the strut and spring.

the shocks are sold sepratly.

so yes the whole setup would be around 1000.
so 525 is just the springs and strut housing.

Default few tips for a fellow Audi owner... :)

- try limiting you search to this year, maybe even the last month or two (questions like these come up every other day...)

- read 20v.org front to back

- shox.com actually gave me decent pricing on springs/shocks, but I never bought from them, so I can say how it would've worked out.

- and we're always here to help in the event you can't find what you're looking for

Peace

Default Thanks guys. Looking for opinions from the living!

Thanks for the advice, I have looked over the 20V.org site and it gives options, but no descriptions from people who can describe the handling improvements. I'm looking for fresh bodies who have done suspension mods and what they think of them. I'll try a narrower search on the site before re-posting. - Ivar
