Default Throttle valve and transmission shift linkage adjustment

My 1990 Audi A90 with a 3 speed auto transmission has a harsh engagement into reverse gear. The condition is intermittent, but occurs more frequent when the transmission fluid warms up.

It seems the throttle valve and transmission shift linkage need to be adjusted. Anyone knows the procedure or a url link to the info?

Delayed or harsh engagement is usually a warning sign of total failure on the 3 speed tranny.
