Vacuum Leak??
I bought a 1988 90 Quattro to fix up and sell. I was wondering if when you take the oil filler cap off if it was supposed to kill the engine?? Mine actually picks up slightly in idle speed when I do this.
I am not sure if on the 10v is supposed to or not, can anyone confirm??
I may need to do a little digging looking for leaks??
Thanks,

Re: Vacuum Leak??
I've only heard of the turbo 20V stalling when you take the cap off. None of the normally aspirated vw/audi engines I've been around will stall with the oil cap removed.

Re: Vacuum Leak??
I wouldn;t be too worried, my friend that has our old '88 90 and a '98 Passat 1.8t drove for around a week w/out a filler cap on the 90. He was like, dude, my car isn't running right (insert description of running here). I popped the hood to look for a bad vac line or 5, and found he didn't have an oil filler cap. I had a spare from the CQ I gave to him, checked the oil (actually not too low), and cleaned the engine bay a bit from oil spray...
