What's the highest Torque rate/range requirement for our cars??

Default What's the highest Torque rate/range requirement for our cars??

i'm looking for a torque wrench and don't want to over spend on something that's over the torque range that our car requires...Sorry for not having a Bentley..

Anyone?

Lug nutz are ~85. I think there is something that is 112 - cant remeber.

Default Probably something like 130 lbs/ft on the hub bolts that keep the axle in...

That's my guess.

On everything except the engine, it's fairly safe to use the professional mechanic's 3 setting torque scale:

Loose --> Tight --> Really Fvcking Tight.

You should torque the wheels though. Uneven torque on the lug bolts can lead to warped rotors.

Crankshaft pulley, at least on the 5cyl cars, requires over 250lb-ft of torque...

i would prolly send that type of job to a mechanic.. and oh, what's a more commmn drive, 1/2 or 3/4?

Default 1/2" for things starting at around 50lb-ft, 3/8" for 0-50lb-ft.

We have both sizes, and use both.

Default always better to be prepared when it comes to tools, 1/2 for sure.

is there a considerable difference in price between the 150(?) and the 250 ft/lb?

except for the crank nut. Once needed a 6 foot breaker bar to loosen one.
