When will it end! The audi gods hate me!!! *rant*
So, I try to help out my car by replacing the lifters as it is one of the few things on the car that is an annoyance and needs to be replaced. Well a job that should take 1 day MAX has turned into a 3-day event!
First I break off a hose connector. No biggie, call up the dealership and get a new one. 4 days later...its in.
Put everything back together. Fire....not. It sputters and I fear I have no oil pressure. I tear everything back apart (short of pulling the camshaft bearings again) and re-do it all making sure I get is all right. Still no fire, so I go to the timing. THATS it. In my shortcut method I accidentally laid the camshaft down 1 tooth off and so removing the distributor and re-installing it did the trick.
NOW there is a knock in the distributor! I can hear AND feel it so now I'm worried I did something wrong, and will end up tearing it all apart again to check the camshaft and assosicated parts under slow rotation (turning the crankshaft bolt).
The car gods hate me. This was to be a simple job, and I am mechanically inclined. I read everything and it all seemed to be just peachy! I just pray that "knock" didnt wear something down and I just destroyed my engine. I guess I have to keep telling myself "you just saved yourself a butt-load of money by doing it yourself"
