Default Who autocrosses their 90?

I am considering getting a 90 quattro for daily use and autocross. In my region this car ends up in H Stock which should make it pretty competitive.

I'd like to correspond with somebody who has set up this kind of car for autocross and/or track use.

Please respond to this thread with your year, model and usage so that I can develop some more specific queries.

When I ran H Stock in the CQ back in the day, I finished mid-pack, after DNF'ing 3 or 6 runs (it was my very first driving event). I think if I had a better tire (was running D60A2 jlb's which are not so sticky H-rated M+S all seasons).

When I ran it in STX this past summer, I placed worse, due to not being able to set tire pressures, and I am also currently down on power. I think I could have gotten a mid to higher placement with proper tire pressures and a strong running engine.

Mods on the early 1990 CQ consist of 250 lb/in springs front, 300lb/in springs rear over Koni "Yellow" shocks set to 50% of their adjustment. Car also has a big brake setup from a 1997 993C2 and Stebro exhaust. Of questionable power increase is a Jamex lower airbox. Also trimmed some weight with an aftermarket B4 hood in steel (also have a glass fibre hood) and the S2 bumper.

Default I went this summer...

my 90 FWD did pretty well in H stock...I got beat by some kid in an avenger...but I felt as if the car handled very well and I would have done much better if I had tires that weren't so worn...

Default I have run STS class

I run this class because I wanted to run suspension and larger diameter wheels. This class allows this. It is basically a street mod class with dot tires rated at 150 or higher. cuatrokoop had to run STX because he was running big brakes.

I am also running S2 bumpers front and rear.

"cuatrokoop had to run STX because he was running big brakes"

Yup...I think I can stay in STX/M even after dropping in the 10vt, but I'm not sure, my book doesn't really cover it (I'm a bad SCCA member, haven't gotten the most up to date book for 2 years?). Hopefully I'll have everything ironed out with the car by next summer so I can find out...

Depends on who is tech'ing...Some will let things slide, others won't. Just depends.
