Default A3 3.2 DSG Gas Mileage

700 miles on the car. Love it, except getting 10 to 11 mpg in town and 20 mpg highway! Tires inflated, using premium and I'm babying it. Any similar experiences? Ideas anyone?

In manual. I'm typically shifting at about 3500. Trying to keep it between 2500 and 3500 rpms. I usually wind my cars out more than this but I'm attempting to maximize mileage. I've been accelerating pretty gently. 20 mpg was achieved on the freeway over 100 miles with most in 6th gear @ 65 mph and cruise control on. Thanks!

Default i'm averaging just over 20 mpg for 50/50 city/hwy on 91 octane

I got 20.2 mpg on 1st tank and 20.6 mpg on 2nd tank calculated the old fashion way instead of trip computer. My daily commute is 20 miles round trip through flat terrain with just about 12 stops in between and frequent stop/go traffic on the freeway. On short 2 mile grocery runs through the suburbs, trip computer shows average of 17 mpg. I have almost 930 miles on the car in D mode primarily. Once I hit 1k, I'm expecting the numbers to get worse as I swap out my current foot with a lead one and play with the paddles a lot more.

Default Audi sure knows how to build thirsty small cars..

My 94 Volvo 850 wagon (222 HP, 2600 lbs ) does 22.5 on a mixed 60-mile commute and about 26 highway.
Audi's 20 highway makes me want to look elsewhere..

(I rejected the V-8 S4 because of it's hummer-like gas usage..)

You should be doing better than 20 mpg at a steady 65. At least 5 better.

Thanks, but the point is that I hope my experience is not typical. I'm asking for help, not gloating.

"I rejected the V-8 S4 because of it's hummer-like gas usage." Kidding right?

Your mileage isn't typical. Using the computer or top off?

Default Ditto! 25-26mpg @ 70 with CC in D on I5 to San Diego (slight slopes).

Overall average for the first 1500 miles is now 20mpg. First tank was 26, and along with the progressing breaking-in, the mileage went down from there. Lowest for a tank was 17.sumth'n.
Everything with 91oct.
