A3 door problem. Please Help.
Hi everyone, i'm just in need of a little help my 2000 A3 has been a little ripper but i had a problem just a few minutes ago. Came home from the beach when i pullined into my drive way the door latch on the inside was working anymore. I could only open the door using the exterior handle.
Now the latch was working fine when i got to the beach in letting me out of the car, but when i got home...maybe i need to go back to the beach.
Has this happened to anyone else? Can i fix it myself somehow without needing to have it checked?

Re: A3 door problem. Please Help.
could be the cable which attaches to the interior door handle.
to get the interior door card off:
undo the 2 screws at both ends at the top
undo a screw which is visible by the interior door handle (the handle, not the door latch)
pull off the small panel underneath the handle
undo the 2 screws
no screws are now holding the door card on - using the handle, pull up the door card with a sharp jolt - the card hangs on the actual door by prongs
****be careful - the door card will still have wires/lines running to the actual door and will not come off, but it will be free enough to see the internals
prize off the foam at the top and check if the cable is still attached to the inside edge of the door latch
good luck!

Re: A3 door problem. Please Help.
a similar problem happened to a friend of mine with a volkswagen. what was happening was the catch at the door was sticking. when we sprayed the lock with the door open a few times with WD40 the probem disappeared.
