Default Re: Build quality is quite different...

To be fair though regarding VW build quality it typically has to do with whether or not the car is built in Germany. It is widely known that VW's built outside of Germany are crap. However, the ones built in Germany, which the new GTI is, are usually very good and approach Audi in quality.

Default That statement could not be any further from the truth

The mexican and Brazilan built VWs are the same or better then the German built ones... All of my mexican buit VWs have been better then my German ones.. The Brazilan built GTIs are no better or worse then the German built ones and the plant in Brazil is more modern then the stuff in germany.. Just becuase its not a german guy watching the robot build the car doesn't mean its any worse...

Perhaps it is not universally true, but most people I know that have VWs built outside of Germany have problems with them. Mainly in the fit and finish area. Meanwhile VWs and Audis from Germany, in my experience and according to the cars' owners, had fewer issues along these lines.

In any case there is a perception among the public that this is true and something had to cause that.

Didn't mean to offend, just relating my experience and that of others I know.

Default The perception is from nothing more then ignorance and racism

The mexican and Brazilian cars have no more problems then the German built cars and often times have less.. I work on them day in and day out.. People that have owned Both identical cars as in Say an early MK4 4 built in germany and one bult in brazil and those people tend to say the mexican one was better.

What I find the most humerous is that often times people commenting on crappy mexican or brazilian built VWs OWN ONE!!!! and just thought theirs was built in Germany...
