Audi A3 Update

A design full of character, further enhancing the vehicle's expression, a new S tronic dual-clutch transmission with seven gears, the Audi magnetic ride suspension control system - the Audi A3 and the Audi A3 Sportback continue to hone their sporty profile. As the new top model, the Audi S3 Sportback, which offers an output of 195 kW (265 hp), rounds off the model family. With its combination of pronounced sportiness, emotion-packed design, high exclusiveness and good all-round characteristics, the A3 model series has long been the pioneer in the premium segment. Audi is now continuing to extend its advantage.

Audi A3

Re: Audi A3 Update
I wish we had the 1.6 here. All i do is highway driving and all i care about is comfortable, quiet safe but sporty driving. I don't care how fast a car goes just that it goes well. The 1.6 or a TDI would make my fuel economy dreams come true. But, on another note, now that our fuel is low sulfur, maybe AUDI can enable the lean burn they use the the FSI in Europe.
Why dont we have the choices they have there? Why cant i buy a more basic A3? two door, manual AC, cloth seats.. but still enjoy the safety, etc.

Re: Why don't we have the choices they have there
Audi of America is trying to cater to the U.S. car buying public; which as a group, are basically morons. Cloth seats and smaller, more efficient engines don't jive with the image of a premium brand.
They also don't sell nearly enough cars to justify giving customers more choices.

That may be what enthusiasts like you and I want but...
I guarantee that AoA sells way more automatics than they do manuals. With the advent of DSG, I am sure they sell more autos than ever.

I hear you, but it is a shame that Audi and VW are going this route...
The VW R32, the TT and A3 Quattros are all DSG only, give us a stick in something... I hate to see people forced into the BMW 1 series. The 1 series looks a little funky, but drives great in both the 135 and the 128 6 spd manuals.

Some very nice attributes I hope we see in the USA
The added 7th gear should improve highway mileage. And the magnetic ride brings a great benefit of switching between sport and luxury, depending on your situation (solo or full occupancy). I this came on the '09 here in the USA, I'd seriously consider trading mine in.
