Engine Code

Where do I find the engine code on a W reg 1.8T quattro. I know a guy selling an Air Mass meter on the cheap and I was told that it would be compatible with all A3/A4/A6 1.8 turbo engines with an 'AEB' engine code

Do you have the service history booklet? There should be a sticker inside the front cover giving the spec of your particular model.

There should also be a duplicate sticker in the boot. Lift the carpet and on the right of the spare wheel well you should see a similar sticker giving model details - You may need an Audi/VW service technician to help decode the letter/number combinations but the engine type should be there.

If you look at the front left hand side of the head you will see the three engine code letters stamped on a flat piece. You should be able to see it without removing the plastic cover.
